To fractionalise or not to fractionalise?

People often ask me whether they should fractionalise a property they are selling or not? My response depends upon whether this is a small commercial developer or a private individual.

For small commercial developers with a fairly small number or properties, say less than ten, I usually advise them to speak to consultants [...]

Are these ads real?

I was completely nonplussed yesterday when someone I was chatting to on the phone suggested that the ads on yours2share were an act of fiction. “They are too well presented, most with well sized good pictures and the titles are often the same format, so I was just wondering…”

My polite reply [...]

Which car is your boat?

I was over at the London Boat Show yesterday seeing lots of people in the boat world who have an interest in sharing. I went for the first time last year and, not being a remotely boatie sort of person, was a bit overwhelmed.

Well yours2share now has over 65 ads for boat shares and [...]

Fractional ownership, tax and France

I’ve just added a pdf copy of a really good review of how tax issues affect fractional ownership in France by non-French-residents to the yours2share website. This is written by Andy Sirkin, an American lawyer who specialises in fractional and joint ownership.

It’s a comprehensive document and not a light read. So make a [...]

Yacht share case study

I’ve finally put together this a case study for the Lady Emma, a yacht share which was sold last summer through yours2share.

I’m currently working on several case studies of people who are successfully sharing a variety of assets and they will be added more shortly. If you have been involved in sharing any valuable [...]

Facebook badge

In the earlier post, I should have explained how I added the Facebook badge that appears further down this page.

Click here and all will be explained. I’ve actually tried to work out how to arrive at this page through the normal user interface, and given up. But then it’s Facebook.

Those who help yours2share

As I indicated on an earlier post, I’ve had help creating and running yours2share from a huge variety of sources. Over the last couple of days I’ve been using two websites that I’ve come to rely on for entirely different types of support.

The first is Sitepoint which is an enormous forum for webmasters and [...]

Sharing a dog

After months of deliberation I have now created a new pet’s category covering dogs (and horses, see earlier post). Over the past year, whenever I explained what yours2share does, I reckon about a third of the people have asked whether this includes dogs.

I know that people frequently set up dog sharing on an [...]

Thank you Fuzioned

This is simply a very big thank you for Colin at Fuzioned for helping me out over the last few days.

Some strange things occured last week and I began to wonder if the website had been hacked. However detailed investigation by Colin and me has shown no evidence of this and [...]

Horse and pony share: template contracts

We now have two new template contracts created in conjunction with internet document provider Net Lawman. The two templates cover two common but different horse sharing scenarios:

two horse owner-riders, riding for pleasure
financier-spectator and competition rider to work together in competing a horse.

There is also specific guidance on horse sharing as well as sharing [...]
