Radio lesson two: BBC Radio Norfolk

Following my trip to Future Radio, last Tuesday I trotted over to see BBC Radio Norfolk last week for another lesson in chatting on the radio. This interview was with Nicky Price on the drive-time show, so I fitted in around the traffic reports, cricket scores and football. Nicky was very friendly and easy to chat to.

My Future Radio interview had taught me that I have to make sure I mention that yours2share is free to use: I didn’t mention this and my partner Larry metaphorically whacked me over the head with this failure as soon as I stepped inside the front door. The BBC interview taught me that I have to make sure that the name yours2share is repeated regularly but not irritatingly: again I received the Larry thump when I got home.

This highlights one of the biggest problems I face when talking about yours2share and that is the scale of what is possible. I could probably talk about sharing for several hours, without difficulty. Talking to virtually anyone about yours2share involves an explanation of fractional ownership and fractional rental, together with the importance of like-mindedness and compatibility. So I don’t really need to worry about these aspects, they will always be covered. But I have to learn the essential points I need to get across which might not always arise in a conversation. Thankfully these are beginning to gel:

  • Free to use
  • Repeat yours2share’s name
  • Urge people to look at the website, because it is a completely new idea applicable to nearly everyone
  • Advise people to post ads indicating what they are looking for, rather than just waiting for someone else to post an ad
  • Mention case studies and examples at all financial levels, from £500 to £500,000

I suspect several more lessons are required. I can’t wait for the next interview!
