I’ve just stumbled over a good blog called Homes & Travel. Two articles caught my eye, both written by solicitor Peter Esder. The first is about fractional ownership where he explains some of his (and my) concerns. The second is about guaranteed rental agreements on holiday homes, something that I’ve always thought suspect, and, apparently, rightly so.

Many thanks for your kind comment about homesandtravel. I’ve been writing (and editing magazines) about property, both UK and overseas, for many years and I still wonder how people can guarantee rentals. I remember when so many Brits were buying Florida properties that had that guarantee just before the first Gulf War. They were relying on the rent to pay running costs and, of course, so many found themselves having problems!
