Some of these pondering sailors are coming to yours2share to sell shares in their boat: [...] Anyone who has ever owned a boat will tell you that the ongoing mooring and maintenance costs can be considerable. One of the major advantages of sharing a boat is sharing these costs. So I read this article in the Wall Street Journal today with a little amusement. Sunk costs details the running costs of superyachts. [...] Most sharing arrangements quickly find they need some kind of reservation system so that people can easily see who and when partners are using the shared asset. If they have an arrangement where free time can be booked on a first come basis, then they need the system to enable them to make the reservation [...] Some time ago I wrote about swapping property, this is now a popular way of holidaying. I also mentioned that someone had posted an ad with yours2share to occasionally swap their holiday home in Mallorca, Spain for a motor yacht in Mallorca. I looked quite hard for any websites for boat swaps but couldn’t find [...] Whenever I’ve spoken to the Financial Times, or other publications aimed at people earning higher salaries, about yours2share and sharing in general, I’ve tended to get a fairly sniffy response. Either they think their readers would only consider buying outright, or they immediately mentally file all sharing as timeshare. So I was surprised to see this [...] When I started yours2share, I didn’t realise that I was starting a social enterprise, I just wanted to help people share stuff. As the number of private syndicates that were helped by yours2share increased, I also became aware that if as the number of partners in a private syndicates increases substantially, it becomes a [...] Do you share a house, car, motorhome, boat, aircraft dog, horse or anything else? I’m always looking for examples of sharing in action to blog about on yours2share and, if they are really good and two or more partners are willing to be interviewed, for case studies. However the course offered in the latest edition amused me, particularly the “we will then all watch the forecasts for worsening weather” bit.
