Is it really free? Where's the catch? |

Many people ask why we don't charge commission or charge to post ads. We have specifically avoided being involved in the actual transactions and so charging commission is effectively impossible. If we were involved in every transaction, we would have to have a range of experts available for every assets in all areas of the world. Alternatively we could charge people to post an ad. But how much? This depends very much on the type of asset involved. We could only charge about £5 per ad to advertise a horse share, but £5 is ridiculously small amount to advertise a £1 million property. Even within a category the range of asset values can be considerable. Furthermore, do we charge commission on the total value of the asset? Or the value of the share? Finally, and most importantly, charging would stop most of the speculative ads where people ask "Is there anyone who would like to buy a holiday cottage in Cornwall with me?" These are ads we want to encourage. We took the decision not to charge a long time ago. yours2share is free to use and we want to keep it that way: we believe passionately that people should be encouraged to share. As yours2share's traffic and membership increases, banner advertising, sales of contracts and optional extras paid by members to get their ads noticed will generate a good revenue but, as with everything related to the internet, this takes time to build up. Running a website costs money. Recently several people have asked if they could pay us because they were delighted with the service: they have found the perfect sharing arrangement, sold a share or have had good advice from us. Therefore if we have helped you and you would like to contribute, please make a donation. If you have no idea what to give, consider the following.
