yours2share - helping people to share dogs |
| February 2008 |
Pioneering website yours2share has launched a new "dogs" category for people who want to share their dogs. Friends and families often informally get together to care for a dog and some people find dog minders to look after their dogs during the day. Sharing your dog with a stranger is a new idea and yours2share makes it easy to find like-minded partners. yours2share strongly recommends that no more than two people/families share a dog, primarily because dogs need security and continuity just as much as humans. yours2share also believes that one of the two sharers must be clearly defined as the "legal owner" taking full responsibility for the dog, its wellbeing and all other important canine matters such as health, training, behaviour and insurance. The legal owner owns the dog outright. The legal owner is also responsible for ensuring that the dog is adequately cared for if, for any reason, the other partner can no longer look after the dog as anticipated. yours2share founder Sophie Garrett: "I have deliberated for months about creating a category to share dogs. I have been asked repeatedly if yours2share enables dog sharing. I have two dogs of my own and I was concerned that sharing could lead to circumstances that are not in the dog's best interests. However I think a dog would prefer to be shared if this means they aren't left alone for long periods and get more attention and exercise. I'm pleased that the early ads have been placed by people who appear to be devoted to their dog and who are looking for a solution that caters properly for their dog's needs." |

| Notes to Editors:
yours2share is a free independent web site for anyone buying or selling shares, or creating new syndicates for valuable assets such as property, boats, aircraft, cars, jewellery, horses and now dogs. It allows people to search for dog shares and advertise for partners to share dogs they already own. The site includes advice and guidance. The first step is to post an ad explaining what is required. Contact: Sophie Garrett on +44 (0)208 133 1234 |
